Picture Perfect Cards

Maine’s coastline is filled with rocky harbors which needed lighthouses to guide the sailors and fishermen to safety in the fog or mist.  In the sunlight each lighthouse can be seen to be unique, and easily identified by those who have come to love the coast and harbor life.  Special memories are inspired by special places, and this special place was painted for a dear friend to share with her family and guests.  Now it is shared with you too!  Does it remind you of a special memory, or of a friend to whom a lighthouse has a special meaning?

These pears are truly beauties! Jewel tones make them a visual feast as they reflect the light and whet your appetite.  Even in the print the depth of texture and color is evident in the background, the fruit, and the leaves.  Truly there is life to be found in this still life!

These ladies have plenty to strut about in the New England countryside.  They are just as proud of their fine feathers as they are of their organic eggs gathered each afternoon.  Of course we won’t tell them about the tasty chicken dishes to which they add so much!  If you have ever watched chickens strut around in their open areas you are sure to identify with their antics, poses and beauty.

The first of the whimsical paintings this scene has a special story.  Life was hard, clothes didn’t fit, the house wasn’t in order, and loved ones weren’t seeming so lovable.  Art to the rescue!  Painting outside the comfort zone with just one thought: the final painting must bring a smile to the viewer!  What fun it has been to watch and see that people unknowingly find themselves smiling at the fluffed up balls of color decked with every color they can squeeze in, especially on learning the title of “Hen Party”.  Do you need a smile, or know someone who does?  This is the scene for you!

The ladies have work to do but there’s always time to have a quick visit to catch up on the news!  The deep myriad of color in the background is characteristic of Julie’s work and is complemented by the abundance of color in the fine feathers of the ladies.  A whimsical piece of artwork which seems to always bring a smile to the viewer.  Perhaps they have some news to share too!

The exploding beauty of the sun shining on a heavy, wet snow clinging to everything almost makes one forget the chore of shoveling!  And what a beauty was to be found after this very heavy snowfall, one of the most scenic of the winter.  Even the heavy snow can’t keep one from feeling the warmth of the welcome given by this evergreen wreath on a rustic gate bidding you welcome through the field stone walls.  Come inside for a cup of tea or hot chocolate, a roaring fire, and pleasant conversation or a fascinating book.
